Understanding Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD): Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment
Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) is a grouping of diseases, which encircles scarring and inflammation of lung tissue. This disease affects the interstitium, which is the tissue surrounding the lung air sacs, causing breathing difficulty and reducing oxygen uptake into the bloodstream. JCS Lung & Sleep Centre has specialty in diagnosing and treating ILD to prolong a patient's health with effective management.
What Causes ILD?
ILD can develop from prolonged exposure to harmful materials. This can range from asbestos, silica dust, mold, infection by viruses to inflammatory diseases of autoimmune origin, leading to ILD. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis refers to the case when the etiology remains elusive.
